Dealing With Conflict Creatively

Peace Studies facilitators with studentsThe DWCC programme takes a holistic approach to Conflict Resolution in schools, working with students, parents & teachers to build a community which can diagnose, prevent and creatively respond to conflict situations.  We offer practical workshops in conflict resolution skills, which are individually designed and range from a one-hour session looking at the nature of conflict and personal responses to it, through to more in-depth conflict resolution training and peer mediation work.

Our team of experienced trainers can facilitate workshops at both primary and secondary school levels. Courses in the past have covered topics such as: Anger Management, Effective Communication, Peer Mediation, and Anti-Bullying.  We have also worked with sixth-form pupils to increase their awareness of international issues.DWCC students in mediation role-play

Teacher Training – Experience of working with conflict shows that in order for conflict resolution programmes to be effective they must be part of a whole-school appproach. While workshops with pupils can provide many benefits, those benefits are greatly enhanced when teachers are also included in the learning experience. We are able to provide training days specifically for school staff, designed in co-ordination with each school. Their aim is to provide a practical and applicable understanding of conflict that empowers a team of staff to develop a greater understanding of issues in their school.
