Lessons for Good PracticeContact: Dr. Nick Lewer, n.lewer@bradford.ac.uk This research theme develops the work built up in the CCR since 1990 and in particular is designed to strengthen the relationship between track II (middle-level leaders and NGOs) and track III (grassroots organisations and activists) One of the main objectives of this research is to contribute, with a policy orientation, to the debate regarding the way in which outsiders, at governmental and non-governmental levels, can help local communities caught up in complex political emergencies. The research thus draws in international NGOs and governments who are involved as aid and development donors, host and recipient governments, local NGOs and people working on these problems, academics and other interested parties. In recent years there has been increasing activity and interest shown by outside agencies and individuals in initiating and supporting local peacebuilding and peacemaking activities in zones of violence.
