Support of Basic and Translation Research

The types of research projects using samples or data sourced from ETHICAL TISSUE involve many areas of the biomedical sciences.  They include:

• Development of relevant human system models for basic and translational research
• Research into normal and abnormal biological processes associated with the nature of human disease
• Discovery and interrogation of new and established drug target in humans

Human tissues are supplied to research groups in universities, NHS Trusts and industry based either in the UK or abroad.

Researchers receiving human material from ETHICAL TISSUE will agree and adhere to the Human Tissue Supply Agreement.  This will ensure that the recipients of human tissue agree to store, use and dispose of the samples in accordance with the Human Tissue Authority Codes of Practice.  The terms of the ethical approval will include an agreement by the recipient that human tissue supplied is not used for the testing or safety of cosmetics or other products  unrelated to healthcare.
