Ethical Tissue to speak at conference organised by House of Lords
Sandie Martin, Head of Ethical Tissue, has been invited to speak at the conference "How to solve the problem of access to human tissues for medical research" at the House of Lords on 12.30-3.30pm 20th October 2009
The conference brings together key opinion leaders in order to discuss measures to increase access to human tissues for research and will address practical & ethical considerations in seeking to increase the use of this vital resource.

Appointment of Senior Scientist

ETHICAL TISSUE are delighted to be able to announce the appointment of Wayne Burrill as Senior Scientist. Wayne will be starting with ETHICAL TISSUE in January 2009 and brings a wealth of experience from his time with Renovo and more recently Syntopix.
Thoracic Surgeons Group
October 2008
ETHICAL TISSUE hosted a meeting of the Thoracic Surgery Team from St James Hospital in Leeds. Wide ranging discussions covered the role of ETHICAL TISSUE in supporting vital research in a variety of clinical conditions and how surgeons can contribute to these research programmes. Recent tissue requests from academics at the University of Bradford have included lung cancer specimens and sputum from cystic fibrosis sufferers.
Quality Matters: A workshop for biobankers
January 15 - 16th 2008
This two day workshop held by the Confederation of Cancer Biobankers took place at the Wellcome Trust, London and was intended as a forum for discussing many quality assurance and quality control aspects for biobanking. Mrs Sandie Martin (Head of ETHICAL TISSUE) in her capacity as one of the rapporteurs of the workshop, gave a summary of the Quality Management in Biobanking session to the assembled audience at the end of the first day of talks.
