Anti Angiogenesis – Research into tumour blood supply disruption
Researchers at the Institute of Cancer Therapeutics, University of Bradford have been involved in designing drugs that will specifically attack the blood vessels surrounding certain tumours and so seriously affect, if not prevent, the growth of the tumour.

Access to a certain type of normal body cell known as human vascular endothelial cells (HUVECs) has been an essential requirement for progressing this research and ETHICAL TISSUE has played a key role in sourcing and supplying them.

Pro-drug Development for use in Cancer Treatment
Ethical Tissue has been working closely with collaborating NHS Trusts to supply biomedical researchers in the Institute of Cancer Therapeutics, University of Bradford with essential bio-samples. These bio-samples are for use in approved research directed towards new anti-cancer drug development and one area of the research has focussed on the development of pro-drugs specifically activated within the tumour. As a consequence of this, Ethical Tissue has organised the collection of tumour samples as well as pre-operative urine and blood samples from fully consented patient donors who are undergoing therapeutic resection of their disease. Currently, samples have been collected, stored and distributed from over 500 patient donors undergoing bladder, colon and lung tumour resections.
