Dr Shaun Gregory |
The End of SASSU at the Department of Peace Studies, University of Bradford, UK. February 2006.
Dear Friends and Colleagues,
Many of you will by now be aware that the Department of Peace Studies at the University of Bradford [UK] has decided not to renew its contract with Pakistan’s National University of Science and Technology for the SASSU research unit. The contract came to an end on 14th February 2006.
We therefore have to inform you that NUST have now taken possession of all SASSU publications [paper and web-based] produced under contract in the Department of Peace Studies and that the SASSU website has been relocated onto a temporary server. As a consequence SASSU no longer exists at the University of Bradford. Past SASSU authors and Fellows who have any concerns about the disposition of their work under the new arrangement should contact either Ms Maria Sultan or NUST directly.
We wish to make it clear that while the Department of Peace Studies is proud of the range and intellectual integrity of the South Asian research work that has taken place at, and from, Bradford over the past two years under the SASSU name, the Department now wishes it to be known that it has no association with the work of SASSU going forward.
South Asian nuclear/security research will continue at Bradford, under a different “brand”, consistent with the agenda developed here for SASSU, and a new website is presently under construction. It has been our privilege to work with you all, and to share ideas for the promotion of peace and security in South Asia. We are very grateful to all those who have supported our work and we look forward to working with you in the future.
Yours sincerely
Shaun Gregory [Professor]
15 February 2006.
