Dr Filippa Lentzos Senior Research Fellow at the BIOS Centre (for the study of Bioscience, Biomedicine, Biotechnology and Society), London School of Economics. Filippa was originally trained in human sciences before switching to sociology, obtaining her PhD from the Institute for the Study of Genetics, Biorisks and Society at the University of Nottingham. Prior to her current position at BIOS, she completed a three-year Wellcome Trust Research Fellowship at BIOS and at the Centre for the Study of Law and Society at the University of California, Berkeley.
Filippa’s primary research interests are focused on biosecurity and synthetic biology, and the range of social, ethical, political, legal, economic, and geographical issues associated with these two key emerging research themes in the field of biomedicine and society. email: F.Lentzos@lse.ac.uk
Dr Markus Schmidt. Board Member, and Co-Founder of Organisation for International Dialogue and Conflict Management (IDC), Dr Schmidt's educational background is in biomedical engineering, biology and safety research, and his research interests inlcude public perception, risk communication and management of genetically modified (GM) crops, genetic erosion, genetic resources, synthetic biology and nanotechnology. email: markus.schmidt@idialog.eu
Angela Woodward, Programme Director, The Verification Research, Training and Information Centre (VERTIC).
