Summary texts for international regulations and associated organisations
The Genomics Gateway is designed to guide the user through the area of international treaties, conventions, standards and guidelines applicable to biotechnology. This is primarily done through the provision of summary information on the key international organisations and regulations.

The summaries are divided into the issue areas of: Arms Control; Health and Disease Control; Environmental Protection; Trade; Drugs Control; and Social and Ethical Impacts.

Background and supporting information

The Gateway also provides a written overview and brief history of the biotechnology (genomics) revolution and of the connections between the organisations and documents; and an issues page which covers biotechnology issues that have been in the news. You may also be interested in the Genomics Policy and Research Forum, based at the University of Edinburgh, which aims to encourage public debate on the social and economic aspects of genomics.
