A Conference of the Bradford Centre for International Development

Key Note Speaker: Andrew Kakabadse: BSc MA PhD AAPSW FBPS FIAM FBAM

Leadership and Public Sector Governance

Professor of International Management Development, Cranfield School of Management: Andrew was the H. Smith Richardson Fellow at CCL, North Carolina, USA and is Visiting Professor at the University of Ulster; Macquarie Graduate School of Management; Thunderbird and at Swinburne University. His research covers boards, top teams and the governance of governments. He has published 26 books, 169 articles and 16 monographs. He is co-editor of the Journal of Management Development and Corporate Governance: International Journal of Business in Society.

There will be a number of speakers from other universities including; Bradford, Manchester, Bangor, Dundee Abertay, Sterling, Payam Noor, (Iran), Cape Coast (Ghana) and Northampton.

Topics include


The debate on Management for Sustainable Public Sector Reform not only reveals the degree of complexities involved, it also directs the debate towards new challenges including Restructuring, Organisational Development, Strategic Role of HRM, Management Development, Information Communication Technology, Cultural Diversity, Gender, Marketing, Judicial and Financial System, Learning and Development and many more.

The conference is open to all academic staff and students of Bradford University, and external contributors and participants with an interest in the above issues. There is no conference fee, but external participants will be responsible for all of their own costs (lunch and refreshment will be provided).

Contributors to the conference will be required to submit an abstract of their paper (no more than 150) words to Professor Farhad Analoui, conference organiser, f.analoui@Bradford.ac.uk preferably before 15 January 2008. Full papers (2000- 3000 words) are expected by (latest) 10th February 2008. It is envisaged that a selected number of the contributions will be considered for publication.

All contributors' and external participants wishing to attend should register with Gill Gulbrandsen, Departmental Secretary, Bradford Centre for International Development (g.m.gulbrandsen@bradford.ac.uk)
