EcoversityThis University is investing significantly in travel planning and has developed a specific travel website to provide staff, students and visitors with travel information on how to get to and from the University of Bradford.
Our travel measures have been developed into a travel plan which offers you better choice in the way you can travel to work and study.
Improvement measures focus on reducing travel demand (video conferencing), walking and cycling (more cycle shelters), public transport (discounted travel cards), environment levy fund (grants for travel projects), car users (carshare scheme), and home working (web access to staff filestores).
In support of our travel planning initiatives the University has agreed a capital expenditure of over £1m on pedestrian improvements and has recently put forward plans to take ownership of a number of local roads in order to pedestrianise the City Centre Campus. Plans include:
Creating University reception points off major pedestrian routes
Developing ‘golden’ pedestrian routes through the University, that connect transport intersections (walking routes, cycling lanes, bus stops and car parking) and improving the pedestrian infrastructure (lighting and street furniture)
Significant investment in safety including creating clear lines of sight, improved CCTV coverage, linking to Bradford City’s CCTV system and installing help points
Joining existing green spaces to create larger and usable park areas, wildlife habitats and piazzas
Adoption of Longside Lane, Richmond Road, Norcroft Brow, Tumbling Hill Street and Smith Street
Creation of a new University vehicle entrance off Shearbridge Road
Development of new car parking arrangements and facilities
