EcoversityOur ESD curriculum initiative is managed through the HEFCE funded Ecoversity StuDent project (2007-2010). This project aims to promote and embedded learning about ESD to ALL out students regardless of discipline. This is an ambitious and complex undertaking. We have approached this challenge by developing a 3 curricula model for ESD through a formal curricula, an informal curricula and a physical curricula which we term the transparent campus. Recent publications describe the 3 curricula model and will be available shortly on this site, in the mean time, if you require copy please contact the office via ecoversity@bradford.ac.uk.

The formal curriculum work is led by an academic policy paper which justifies the adoption of the UNESCO principles for ESD as a guide for curriculum and academic development. The Ecoversity StuDent project funds academic staff in each academic area as ESD pioneers to undertake ESD curriculum review and champion ESD curriculum developments. Through an ESD action plan. Each academic school is then funded to implement those actions plans.
In 2008 we introduced a formal requirement through course approval and review for course teams to articulate and evidence ESD in their courses in ways that are relevant and meaningful to their discipline.
There is considerable national and international interest in ESD and the formal curriculum and many resources of examples of good practice or policy developments are arising.
