Friday 6 November Secondary School Carbon Reduction Conference.
Norcroft Conference Centre, University of Bradford.
From 2011 the carbon reduction commitment will impact on schools in the Bradford District. This will have financial implications. To help plan for this major new programme we’re bringing together a host of experts and organisations to meet with you and your colleagues from secondary schools around West Yorkshire a sponsored Carbon Reduction Conference to be held at the University of Bradford.
For this particular event we aim to attract staff from Secondary schools which are responsible for 50% of carbon dioxide emissions from the Bradford schools estate which in turn are responsible for 50% of the Council’s total emissions. The event will benefit head teachers, bursars and governors as well as elected members.
Part of the day will focus on the financial bonuses and penalties associated with the Carbon Reduction Commitment brought in as part of the Climate Change Act in November 2008.
These financial impacts will apply in October 2011 and will increase in each of the subsequent five years.
Places will be limited to 15 per each local authority, so book early to avoid disappointment.
Throughout the day we’ll help you find practical and achievable solutions that will have a positive impact on your budget, resources and environmental performance. And you’ll have the opportunity to let us know what help and support you need from us to make this happen.
With prominent speakers to inspire you, networking opportunities to share ideas and workshops to get into the daily practicalities of carbon management and what it means for your school, the event promises to show that actions will speak louder than words.
A full agenda and booking form will be circulated shortly so this is merely notification to enable you to save the date if you are interested. Please contact ecoversity@bradford.ac.uk if you are interested, marking your email Carbon Reduction Conference.
