EcoversityA key objective of Ecoversity is the promotion of student and staff learning about sustainable development.
One way of promoting student learning about sustainable development is through their formal taught study. Our approach at Bradford has been to develop an approach to academic policy and curriculum development around Education for Sustainable Development that is relevant and meaningful to staff and students regardless of their specific discipline. The policy paper on ESD was accepted by the University in early 2007 and is now currently being implemented. The implementation phase is taking place through the individual academic schools via a network of academic pioneers recruited to develop, shape and lead appropriate actions in support of the educational objectives for Ecoversity StuDent.
The individual pioneers are:
Each pioneer will take the lead on developing a three-year plan within their School to build education for sustainable development into the School curricula and wider activities to promote SD within the student learning experience.
The work of the pioneers builds on a 12 month ESD curriculum review process funded by an internal Teaching Quality Innovation Fund.
