The Horton bike cage is now fully operational and offers 40 safe and secure bike parking spaces for use by staff and students. It's situated under the Archway of Horton D Block opposite the main entrance to the Richmond Building.
You gain access to the cage using your staff or student card. In order for your card to be activated you need to join UNIBBUG, the cycling group here at the University of Bradford. http://www.bradford.ac.uk/admin/estates/unibbug/index.php.
Look out for new cages at the School of Management and School of Health studies over the next two months. Access to one of the cages means access to all of them, so no excuses for driving between campuses!
The University has a number of secure, enclosed bike lockers at the following locations around the campus.
Outside Horton building (opposite Richmond building) - 10 lockers;
Outside J B Priestley building - 6 lockers;
Outside Phoenix building (SW Entrance) - 4 lockers;
Outside Unity Building - 4 lockers.
Regular members of UNIBBUG are entitled to hire a bike locker. Bike Lockers are heavily in demand, but you can join the waiting list by visiting Richmond reception in person, or by e-mailing Cathy Manchester or Jackie Bates. You will be informed when a locker becomes available.
Bike lockers can be hired:
during term time (mid September - May), or
over the summer vacation (June - mid September), or
for the full year.
From September 2007, the following charges apply
| Hire Period | Hire Charge | Key deposit |
| Term time (mid September - May) | £10 | £50 |
| Summer vacation (June - mid September) | £10 | £50 |
| Full year | £20 | £50 |
Locker hirers must agree to the Terms and Conditions of hire.
Staff can purchase a bicycle making savings on Income Tax and National Insurance. The money is deducted from your salary over a 12 month period. For more details visit http://www.bradford.ac.uk/news/cycle.htm
