HEAD INJURY
After an injury to the head if there are no deep cuts, and the person is awake then it is unlikely that there is any serious injury to the brain. However, the following safety measures should be taken:

  • After a head injury ensure that there is a responsible person to keep an eye on you
  • Rest quietly and avoid strenuous activity, heavy meals and alcohol for a few days
  • Return to the Student Health Service or to the Accident and Emergency Department if you develop severe headache, which is not relieved by aspirin or paracetamol
  • If you develop any of the following symptoms then please return to the Student Health Service, or the Accident and Emergency Department
    • Persistent vomiting
    • Increasing drowsiness and unconsciousness
    • Double vision
    • Fitting
