A NEW BUILDING FOR BRADFORD STUDENT HEALTH SERVICE

A NEW BUILDING FOR BRADFORD STUDENT HEALTH SERVICE
The practice is working with a developer to build a new surgery in the University's sustainable student village, meaning our current building in the grounds of the halls of residence in Laisteridge Lane will close. You can see a picture below of the proposed new building, which we will occupy a part of, perhaps alongside other services such as; optician, dentist, pharmacist, physiotherapist, and diagnostic services

You can read more about the proposed new building by opening Bradford and Airedale PCT's Consultation Document PDF (PDF format). It also tells you how to register your comments and opinions about the proposal

CONTRACEPTIVE ADVICE AND SEXUAL HEALTH

CONTRACEPTIVE ADVICE AND SEXUAL HEALTH
Please feel free to discuss with the doctor or practice nurse any concerns you may have about sexual health, contraception, sexually transmitted diseases and terminations of pregnancy. We offer completely confidential advice and guidance. Please note that new patients must have their first contraceptive review in a routine doctor's appointment, they can then see one of our nurses for future contraceptive consultations

EXTENDED OPENING HOURS

EXTENDED OPENING HOURSsunset
You may have read recently that doctor's surgeries are being encouraged by the Government to open longer hours. This may be by opening earlier in the morning, staying open later in the evening, or opening on Saturdays and Sundays. Bradford Student Health Service has chosen to offer extended opening hours on certain evenings for pre-booked appointments between 6.30pm and 9pm

IMMUNISATION AND TRAVEL

IMMUNISATION AND TRAVEL
If you are planning to travel abroad soon please take the time to read our new Travel page. beachIt contains a lot of useful information that will help you prepare for your trip, and keep safe and healthy whilst away. Our nurses run weekly comprehensive travel advice and immunisation clinics. Please remember to plan well in advance of your travels (at least 6 to 8 weeks if possible), so that you have time to receive any necessary immunisations - it is never too early to come and discuss your travel plans with the nurse!

CHLAMYDIA

CHLAMYDIA
Chlamydia is the most common sexually transmitted infection in the UK. It often causes no symptoms, and can be passed on to others without you realising. However, complications may occur if it is left untreated, and it can cause serious problems later in life if not treated. You can find more details on our Chlamydia page. Bradford Student Health Service is offering Chlamydia screening by a 'pee in a pot' collection method, where you can be tested for Chlamydia simply by giving a urine sample. Please ask for details at Reception. No need to see a doctor or nurse, and results can be sent to your mobile phone in a text message if you wish
