The University has been in the media spotlight recently after the announcement that the University and the College are to conduct a feasibility study into a unique new form of institution. Here, we give an update on the progress following our proposal to the Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE). Meanwhile, the latest news on Investors in People and the Corporate Plan is available here. Nationally, the focus has been on Universities' performances with publication of the results of the 2001 Research Assessment Exercise. At Bradford, fifteen out of eighteen submissions had retained or improved their grades compared with the last RAE in 1996 - a tremendous success. Full story here. The University also did well in the HEFCE performance tables which showed we were performing well above Government expectations in attracting students from all backgrounds. See here for further information. And locally, we are supporting Bradford's bid to be European Capital of Culture in 2008 with a full feature here. News & Views is always on the lookout for more research and other stories from departments. Contact Rachael Ellis on r.ellis1@bradford.ac.uk or call (23)3084.
