Welcome
Welcome to this month's edition of News & Views featuring the latest
news from in and around the University of Bradford.
June's edition welcomes international cricket legend turned politician
Imran Khan as the University's new Chancellor,
who will succeed Baroness Betty Lockwood on her retirement on 31 July.
There's also news about the University's performance in recently published
Higher Education league tables as well as success
in being the first University to get the Customer
First accreditation.
We also have news about how the ancient chariot
burial site found at Ferrybridge in West Yorkshire is keeping staff
in Archaeology busy, and news of how one of the JB Priestley Library's
newest archives is celebrating the life of
his wife Jacquetta Hawkes.
We also focus on people, with news of a new appointment at the Institute
of Pharmaceutical Innovation, two new books, a PhD
graduate who has been making a big impression, and two recent losses
of a former lecturer and an honorary
graduate.
We give examples of Research and Knowledge Transfer within the University
including a two-year programme to encourage children
to learn about science through games on their mobile phones, and a
researcher who's been given a funding boost from
the Department of Health.
Please send all contributions and comments for News & Views to the new
Senior Press Officer at the University of Bradford, Oliver Tipper.
