JobShop marks first National Student Employment Week

The University's JobShop highlighted students as a valuable resource for employers during the recent National Student Employment Week.

The JobShop, which is part of the Careers Advisory Service, helps the University's students find part-time and vacation work to fit in around their studies and helps to put local businesses in touch with students.

A number of events took place to mark the week, initiated by the National Association of Student Employment Staff (NASES).

JobShop Co-ordinator, Andrea Balderson, said: "The week was a great success. It included a programme of presentations and workshops to assist students in gaining employability skills and to highlight employment opportunities. "We also had a prize draw with prizes very generously donated by local employers. It has certainly given us a good foundation to build on for next year."
