Director of TCD meets with Vice-Chancellor

Vice-Chancellor, Professor Chris Taylor, recently welcomed the Director of Teaching Company Directorate, Ed Robson, to the University to talk about TCS and how it will progress.

TCS provides the transfer of technology from science, industry and technology, acting as a link between the University and companies. The University is committed to developing closer links with industry through its 3rd Mission work, therefore providing a further income stream to the University.

TCS aims to develop technical and management skills for high calibre graduates intending to pursue careers in industry. This provides an opportunity to strengthen the competitiveness and wealth creation for companies while promoting interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary research for the University.

Professor Taylor said: "TCS stimulates innovation, encourages companies to invest in research and development and fosters strong collaborative partnerships between industry and universities. Research has shown the positive outcomes of TCS to include increased company competitiveness, employment of highly trained graduates in SMEs and effective knowledge transfer to companies."
