Industrial Chemistry Reunion
Fourteen former Industrial
Chemistry students who graduated in 1967 recently celebrated their 35th
anniversary with a reunion weekend at Bradford.
The students were
amongst the first in the Department, now known as Chemical and Forensic
Sciences, to graduate under Chancellor Harold Wilson at the new University
of Bradford. Most of the attendees had also taken part in the 21st anniversary
gathering, which included a tour of the University buildings and laboratories.
The graduates travelled
from across England, Scotland and Wales as well as from New Jersey to
take part in the event, which was organised by Dr Tim Pestell and Dr Peter
Bird, two of the twelve PhD students from that year.
Emeritus Professor
Derry Jones, of Chemical and Forensic Sciences, said: "Many of the graduates
reached senior positions in organisations in which chemical science has
been relevant. One hopes that current Forensic Sciences graduates will
be as successful and will retain such affection for the University."
