Prehistoric
Pottery Conference
The University recently
welcomed scientists and archaeologists from across Europe to speak at
a unique conference on 'Prehistoric Pottery: People, Pattern and Purpose'
- offering a fascinating insight into the lives of our ancestors.
Dr
Michael Meyer, Humbolt University of Berlin; Dr Alex Gibson, Reader in
British Prehistory at the University of Bradford's Department of Archaeological
Sciences and Chairman of the PCRG; and Annette Hannocks, University of
Birmingham and PCRG Secretary.
The conference, which
was jointly organised by the Prehistoric Ceramics Research Group (PCRG)
and the Ceramics Petrology Group, covered a number of topics including
design and usage to the chemical analyses of absorbed residues found within
the walls of prehistoric pottery.
