Students Graduate in Singapore
The
University recently held a graduation ceremony in Singapore for nearly
450 students who have been studying for University of Bradford degrees
- making it the largest ceremony ever held by the University.
The students, who
were awarded Bachelor of Science degrees in Computing with Management,
Business and Management Studies, and Marketing, have been studying at
the University's partner institute, Management Development Institute of
Singapore (MDIS).
Deans of the Schools
of Management and Informatics, Professors Arthur Francis and Rae Earnshaw,
were there to read out the names of the graduands, mainly Chinese.
Many of the students
had not been able to study for a degree until they had become established
in their careers and had taken their course part-time while holding down
full-time jobs in Singapore.
MDIS is the oldest
not-for-profit professional institute for lifelong learning in Singapore.
Founded in 1956, it is one of the most established professional management
institutes in Singapore.
During the ceremony,
addresses were given by the President of MDIS Dr Eric Kuan, Guest-of-Honour
Dr Vivian Balakrishnan, and University Vice-Chancellor, Professor Chris
Taylor.
Professor Taylor said:
"This was a very memorable occasion for all those who took part in the
ceremony and I would like to wish all of those who received awards success
and happiness in their future careers."
