Staff Survey 2002
An information sheet
is to be published in the New Year which will include an action plan in
response to the University's staff survey and information about the Investors
in People assessment due in February.
The University held
its first full staff survey in the spring of 2002 with over 700 staff
responding to the questionnaire.
The survey collected
data on the current performance of the University as an employer on a
wide range of factors affecting staff. The survey will provide a means
by which staff members can ensure that their views are considered and
that the information will help to inform staffing strategy, policy and
priorities for action.
A number of workshop
meetings have been held since the survey results were published in the
summer, chaired by Pro-Vice-Chancellor Professor Grace Alderson, to identify
how to respond to the issues that emerged from the responses to the survey.
In some areas plans
are already in place which link directly to the outcome of the survey.
For example, a management development programme of activities has been
developed and is in the process of being implemented. Also the career
development and appraisal scheme has recently been relaunched and priority
given to ensuring all staff are appraised, or have an appraisal scheduled,
by the end of December 2002. Other responses in the survey have highlighted
the need for issues to be further explored through focus groups.
- Focus group meetings
are in the process of being arranged. If you wish to join one please
contact Staff Development Unit at staffdev@bradford.ac.uk
- Summaries of the
outcome of the survey are available from Staff Development or the full
survey is available on www.bradford.ac.uk/admin/staffdev
