The course, which
is strongly supported by the local confederations and private sector,
has been running in the Division for 10 years. It continues to recruit
and retain a substantial number of students who study open-learning materials
designed and produced by Emap publishers.
Students, from Huddersfield,
Leeds, Dewsbury and Halifax, continue to work in their clinical areas
in hospitals, community and the private sector during the training. The
course is based on research, management, professional development and
assessment of clinical competence.
An increasing number
of students continue on an open learning pathway undertaking the Diploma
of Higher Education in Professional Practice, and the BSc Professional
Practice (Open Learning) that is also delivered in the Division of Health
Care Studies.
