Bradford's
Research example
Director of the University's
Unit for Educational Research and Evaluation, Professor Ivan Reid, spoke
about Bradford's strategy for research during a recent trip to the United
Arab Emirates and Jordan.
In the Emirates,
he acted as consultant to develop a research strategy for the College
of Education at Zayed University. The University, which is for women only,
was founded in 1998 and has campuses in Dubai and Abu-Dabi.

The College presently
teaches at undergraduate level only but has been given the opportunity
to be involved in research and evaluation in respect to areas identified
by the Ministry of Education and Culture. Ivan gave presentations and
conducted workshops on the policy-related research and evaluation being
undertaken in his Unit at Bradford, together with exploring the Zayed
Faculty members' potential to meet their challenge.
He said: "This was
an extremely interesting and exciting professional experience, providing
an insight into higher education in an Islamic society, in addition to
sharing our Unit's experience in Bradford. Feedback suggests that the
Bradford example is proving most useful in informing decisions for their
future."
Ivan also travelled
to make a presentation to Faculty members of the College of Education
at the United Arab Emerites University in Al-Ain.
In Jordan, Ivan was
a guest of the College of Education at the University of Yamouk, Irbid,
where he gave a similar presentation and held discussions with a range
of Faculty members.
