students from Tong School successfully completed work placements at the
University.
Following their experience,
the students said they had thoroughly enjoyed their time here as it offered
an insight into future careers, whilst the University had a great atmosphere.
Placement Co-ordinator Linda
Broadley said: "The pupils had an extremely varied programme covering
team-building skills, learning styles, CV writing, preparation of UCAS
personal statements and a whole host of other activities. They were given
an opportunity to walk around campus, meet with staff to find out more
about the work they do and explore what the University has to offer in
terms of employment and study."
Meanwhile, Harvinder Kaur spent
a week helping staff in the Corporate Communications office, where she
learnt how the University works with the media, wrote and distributed
press releases, handled national and regional media enquiries, and collected
and recorded press cuttings. She also gained some hands-on experience
in advertising.
Harvinder said: "The experience
was truly unbelievable. I really enjoyed working in the office and I learnt
many skills."
