The
University's Centre for Objective Measurement and Innovation Technologies
(COMIT) is extending its services to multimedia.

box featured in the CD-ROM being piloted to local textile SMEs.
In its continued bid to assist
Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises (SMEs) in the local textiles industry,
COMIT is piloting a CD-ROM.
The CD-ROM will instruct on
the importance of quality control and the methods used for measuring fabric
drape for employees in the clothing and textiles sector. It is an eight-week
pilot project funded by the Department for Trade and Industry (DTi) and
is intended as a 'taster' for the additional support that COMIT can provide.
The COMIT team already offers
a wide range of services including Objective Measurement and a Textile
Knowledge Helpline, which enables access to fast internet and library
searches at the University.
Project Manager, John Watson,
said: "COMIT provides valuable industry knowledge support. We have access
to a wide range of resources and testing facilities and are delighted
that local SMEs in the industry value our research and experience."
COMIT is part of the University's
School of Engineering, Design and Technology and is part-financed until
December 2003 by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).
