Recognising Research - Informatics Workshop

Staff from the School of Informatics.The Dean's Prize was recently awarded to Mr Aymen Zreikat for the best presentation at the 4th Informatics Workshop for Research Students (IW-RS).

The IW-RS is organised every six months by the Director of Postgraduate Research in the Department of Computing, Dr Khalid Al-Begain, and invites research students to present papers on their latest achievements as well as speakers from academia and industry from the UK and abroad.

Khalid said: "The workshops are organised at high conference standard and offer an excellent opportunity for exchange of ideas and networking between staff and students."

Staff attending the workshop selected Research Student in Computing, Aymen Zreikat's paper as the best - both for scientific content and presentation. He presented on 'New Call Admission Control Algorithm for UMTS Networks'.

Aymen said: "I am very pleased to have been awarded the prize as I feel that my presentation and research work are appreciated. Furthermore, the prize motivates me to continue my research towards the PhD."
