IT Certificates for Junior
University students
The
Junior University, which is run by the University to support education
in the community, has awarded IT certificates to youngsters from Belle
Vue Boys school, Bradford.
The pupils have attended
the Junior University on Saturdays from 9 am until 12 pm and have now
completed a full 24 hours learning for Information Technology. They fast-tracked
the completion of the course through participating in workshops after
school and at the Junior University on Saturday mornings.

Organised by the
School of Lifelong Education and Development (SLED), the Junior University
makes University facilities available to young people over the age of
14 who are studying for GSCE and Advanced GCE level examinations in all
subjects, including English, Maths and Science.
Originally created
to develop education provision for minority ethnic communities and to
increase the number of minority ethnic students, Junior University now
welcomes all students and is constantly developing initiatives that encourage
participation and impact on educational under-achievement.
Junior University/Summer
School Co-ordinator of the University's SLED, Anwar Ayub, said: "It's
fantastic that young people in Bradford want to give up their free time
to further their education and learn new skills - something that Junior
University is giving them the chance to do."
