Welcome
Welcome to the November/December
edition of the University's News & Views magazine.
This issue is a special combined
double edition due to the number of important University events that have
recently taken place - as well as the usual news, people and research
stories.
Firstly, the multi-million
pound Institute of Pharmaceutical Innovation, which aims to make the University
a global player in the development of new medicines, was officially
opened by Science Minister Lord Sainsbury recently.
Meanwhile, the University's
commitment to celebrating cultural diversity is underlined in several
articles this month. A House of Lords reception,
'Bradford... and the World - A celebration of Cultural Diversity' welcomed
Leader of the House of Lords Baroness Amos as keynote speaker as well
as associates and ambassadors from across the world.
The 'Presidential Celebrations'
were held on campus to celebrate the work of the Rotary
World Peace Scholars and were attended by peacemakers from around
the globe.
Meanwhile, new international
students have been given a warm welcome to Bradford at two special
ceremonies in their honour (see page 9).
The University also welcomes
a number of new staff including new fellows in both music and theatre
and a new Writer-in-Residence (page 18).
News
& Views is always on the lookout for more research and other
