The course will help train working nurses to perform hysteroscopy. This involves the insertion of scoping equipment and the use of scanning equipment to facilitate the investigation of abnormal bleeding.

Course organiser, Julia Pansini-Murrell said: "This is a key diagnostic tool in gynaecology, and a major step from the nurses' normal roles".

Working alongside Julia from the Hospital Trust are Consultant Obstetrician, Sian Jones, Head of St Lukes Practice Development, Judy Berry, and Service Nurse/Midwife Manager, Jacqui Gerard. The University's Academic Programme Leader for the School of Lifelong Learning, Rosemary Reynolds, completes the team.

The course is approved by the British Society of Gynaecological Endoscopy.
