UKRAINIAN STUDENTS SIGN UP FOR UNIQUE COURSE

The Department of Electronics and Telecommunications has signed a contract with the Zaropozhye Institute of Economics and Information Technology, in the Ukraine, to allow their high quality graduates to enrol on the new 'Information Technology in e-Commerce' MSc.

The unique course offers, at an advanced level, the theoretical and practical skills and knowledge to build or develop e-commerce applications, to understand the business environment in which e-commerce will grow, and to understand and exploit the telecommunications systems on which the Internet is founded.

It does this with a blend of in-depth commerce-related technologies such as IP networking, financial cryptography and e-business simulation together with business-oriented modules delivered by the School of Management.

The course was designed by Professor Simon Shepherd, who was recently promoted to a Personal Chair and is one of only few experts in the field of computer security in the UK.

He said: "This course is a natural extension of our postgraduate portfolio. As a Department, we are unique in the UK in having exactly the right blend of expertise to deliver this course."
