AGT
gets new Oil Boss
University spin-off company
Advanced Gel Technology (AGT) has appointed a managing director for its
oil services division.
Mike Crabtree has joined AGT
from Schlumberger Oilfield Services where he worked on both the exploration
and production sides of the industry.
In total Mike has more than
18 years' experience in the oil and gas sector and is a member of both
the Royal Society of Chemistry and the Society of Petroleum Engineers.
His technical expertise and
sector knowledge will be invaluable as AGT has made a strategic decision
to focus its activities on the development of applications using its hydrogel
technology for the oil and gas industry.
AGT emerged as a business from
the University in 1999 and is based at the nearby Listerhills Science
Park.
AGT's product is based on a
patented hydrogel technology developed by Dr Nicholas Crowther and Dr
Donald Eagland at the Bradford University School of Pharmacy.
The hydrogels are made up of
97 per cent water and are capable of absorbing both water and oil.
AGT Chief Executive Gordon
Feather said: "We have been searching for some time to find the right
candidate with both oil & gas and senior management expertise. The experience
and skills he brings with him will both complement and enhance the existing
management team."
Mike said: "I am very much
looking forward to working with the AGT team and helping them to achieve
their ambitions going forward."
Outside of the Oil & Gas sector
research is continuing at the University of Bradford on various developments
in tissue engineering using the hydrogel as a base.
