Staff of the Nursery

Our staff is made up as follows:

  • Head of Nursery
  • Deputy
  • Three senior Early Years Practitioners
  • Thirteen Early Years Practitioners
  • Four Nursery Assistants

The staff team are highly qualified and their qualifications include:

  • NVQ levels 2, 3 and 4
  • NNEB in Nursery Nursing
  • B/Tec Diploma & Certificate in Childcare
  • Foundation Degree in Early Years
  • Degree in Early Childhood Studies
  • Effective Early Learning Certificate
  • Registered Summer Club Leader
  • Certificate of Higher Education in Management in Health and Social Care Settings
  • A1 and A2 NQ Assessors
  • Early Years Certificates

The majority of staff also has qualifications in First Aid, Manual Lifting, Child Protection, Food Hygiene, Health and Safety, and Customer Care.

Safe Staff Recruitment Policy

We recruit for staff through advertisement in the local press and internally within the University. All applicants are required to complete

Application Form

From this we short list to ascertain whether they fill the criteria for the job and have the relevant qualifications.

Interview

They will be interviewed by the Head and Deputy of Nursery and a representative from the Personnel Department.

References

All references will be checked before the candidate is offered a post.

Qualifications

All qualifications will be checked and verified and all original certificates must be seen.

Probation Period

This is a period of six months which enables the Head/Deputy to assess whether they have the right person for the job, within this time the person s contract may be cancelled.

CRB checks

The University undertakes enhanced CRB checks on all new members of staff these members of staff will not be left unsupervised until the report is returned from the Criminals Record Bureau.
