Pete McClory,BSc in Electronic Imagining and Media Communication (2002)
Pete’s interest for Computing and Multimedia fist originated from his Fine Art background after completing a Foundation course in Fine Art. Looking to take his digital skills further Pete joined the Electronic Imagining and Media Communication course in 1998. During his course Pete completed a sandwich year working for the Metropolitan Police, in the Forensic Science Service, creating 3D representations of crime scenes in London and part of his final year working for the University of Bradford as a Research Assistant. During this time Pete took an active part in setting up the departments’ Motion Capture Suite, and developed and taught 3D sculpting modules within the school. While studying at the University, Pete met a variety of good friends, who were to become long term digital and media industry contacts. Pete founded McClory Media in October 2008, which then became Panoetic in December of that year.
After graduating, Pete worked as a freelancer, a Media Consultant and Games Designer in London, and spent a year in Florence studying classical art and building up his experience and portfolio before launching his own web design company in Bradford in 2008, which has now become Curve Agency www.curveagency.com and is based at Yorkshire Design and Innovation Centre, The Calls, in Leeds. Pete has worked with a wide range of clients including the BBC, Edelman, NHS, QMJ Publishing, University of Bradford, Akbar’s and many others, creating bespoke website designs, mobile applications, and developing with the Drupal content management system. In 2010 his business won the Young Business of the Year from Yorkshire Enterprise and Diversity Awards (YEDA). Pete grew a web agency into Bradford’s largest team of web designers and developers, and now has a web agency on The Calls in Leeds.
“Running your own business gives you more control over your destiny. I encourage students to consider freelancing as an option. Look to help local companies, charities and social enterprises market themselves, and work on building your profile and portfolio. Be pro-active about finding opportunities like Think Business at Bradford University.”
