About the Graduates' Association

The Graduates Association was relaunched as part of the University's 40th Anniversary Year (2006). The executive committee meets twice per year and a number of initiatives are presently being considered.

The first proposal is the holding of small local events, for re-union and networking of Bradford graduates, by region and interest group in partnership with the University.

The second proposal is to launch the Bradford Graduates Association Website. We expect this to provide an effective form of communication directly with our members.

Thirdly, in relation to our very large overseas graduate population, the proposal is to assist in setting up groups, in conjunction with the Graduates Association, in countries such as India, China, Pakistan, Singapore and Malaysia as well as regional groups in the Middle East, East, West and Southern Africa.

Finally, to forge links with those University Departments where there is a highly developed system to communicate with their graduates.

Make a difference

On graduation, you automatically become a member of the Graduates' Association for life!

It's easy to think `So what?' but did you know this gives you a voice on the governing and decision making bodies of the University forever? The Graduates' Association Committee is elected by the association members (you) and represents your views on the University's Senate, Court and Council.

The association aspires to represent all the diverse groups within our student body and with Skype and Elluminate (virtual conferencing software), now both very much a reality, there is no reason why this cannot now include people from long distances away, as well as people who can get to Bradford more easily.

We need you now to build a strong graduate association committee to influence how the University goes forward and provide important networking support for alumni career development and social reunions.

Graduates are asked to contact the Chair (see below) if they have any further ideas or events they wish to be considered and what content they wish to see appear on the proposed new website. Any volunteers/co-coordinators to assist in hosting local events would also be most welcome.

Jawahar M K Dhutia - Chair of the Graduates Association
