Introduction

Our Archaeological Sciences course allows you to concentrate on the application of science to archaeology. It was one of first in the world to adopt this approach and still possesses the greatest applied science content of any archaeological course in the UK. The integration with the teaching of traditional archaeological subjects provides a thorough understanding of archaeological problems and the scientific principles involved in their solution. Integration of staff expertise and research with teaching provides exciting, relevant and hands-on examples of modern archaeological science, including areas such as dating, geophysics, metallurgy, palaeodiet and molecular archaeology. This course also contains Geoarchaeology as a recommended pathway.
