Anthony Smith - 1st
year BSc (Hons) Diagnostic Radiography
When I recently
reached 40 I decided it was time to bite the bullet and do something
completely different.
When I was
looking for a university, employability of its students was a big
factor - it is no good doing a degree if there is no job at the
end of it. I also looked into results of subject reviews and ended
up picking Bradford over Birmingham. Bradford was also recommended
to me when I spoke to my local hospital.
I've really
enjoyed the course so far - despite a maths assessment in the first
week, which was a bit daunting.
Bradford
is also very accommodating for mature students and I've settled
in easily. I'm living in halls and get on well with people there.
I'm glad it's not just radiographers, there's a good mix of students
and nationalities - in fact, the social aspect in general is excellent.
Wednesday
night is an excellent student night, and there's always loads of
people go down to The Varsity and Gaudi's and other pubs all within
a few minutes walk of the campus.
The city
of Bradford is surprisingly good as well, it's certainly a lot better
than I thought it would be. It is very culturally different. There's
plenty to do on campus and I enjoy going swimming and doing yoga
as a means of relaxation.
