The start of a new term is a good time for staff to remind students about keeping themselves, their friends and their personal possessions safe and secure. Advice can be found on the University's website at http://www.brad.ac.uk/admin/estates/psafe.php
The University is also a partner in the Student Safe Spot scheme http://www.citycentrebeat.co.uk/safespot/

The three city car club vehicles which form the beginnings of a network of cars in Bradford are now fully operational and ready for use. The cars are low emissions vehicles so using these in preference to others will help save the environment.
Use them for business use and you will have all the benefits and flexibility of having a car at work while not having to put up with the grind of commuting in the traffic. You need to sign up and get a smart card then the cars are available 24/7 for bookings using a really flexible system.
They are also available for personal use by staff and students with discounts available for the registration fee for University of Bradford users; perfect for going to the supermarket, cinema or a trip into the countryside.

A study at the University of Roehampton found that academic staff valued chatting and sharing as a CPD activity; our own consultations for developing the vision for the Academic Policy Framework also highlighted the benefit of engaging in conversation. To take this further, ADEPT now offers 'Let's Talk', an online space for learning and teaching conversations. As a start, I have been thinking about encapsulating what a Bradford degree is about and have posted my thoughts on Let's Talk; your views are welcomed.
To get to Let's Talk, go to the ADEPT website and click on L&T Conversations; you will be prompted for your University username and password.

Advances in networks and new ways to access services and data are having a profound effect on the research that can be done and the way researchers work across all disciplines.
This JISC-sponsored roadshow for researchers and those providing IT support, will introduce some of the infrastructure and Web 2.0 tools available to help researchers collaborate in teams spanning disciplinary, institutional and/or national boundaries.
It is anticipated that the works will commence on Wednesday 3 February from 12 noon to early evening and will be completed during the evening of Thursday 4 February.
We apologise for any inconvenience caused during these improvement works.
Should you have any queries regarding the works, please direct them to Alan Harrison, Building Maintenance Officer on ext: 3423.
The performance of the heating system serving Horton A building will be affected over the next 2 to 3 weeks, it has been necessary to isolate the main air supply fan which serves the "blown air" areas. This is needed to enable the removal of asbestos insulating board within the plantroom. The perimeter heating systems will remain functional during this work.
Please contact: Keith Maven, Mechanical Maintenance Officer on ext. 3437 if you have any queries regarding these works
