New. Pay Update

You may recall that a pay offer was made to all Trade Unions in July and that the UCEA is waiting for a formal response from all seven Unions involved, which is expected by the end of this month or early November.

Assuming that the response is to accept the award the University will backdate the award to 1 August 2003. As this pay offer of 3.44% or an increase of £550, whichever is the greater, also includes a Framework Agreement to modernise pay structures, a summary of the Framework is available on http://www.brad.ac.uk/admin/personnel/ for your information.

New. Fault Reporting and Job Requisitions

The Estates Department has recently had a new computerised fault reporting system (called FACTS) installed to process jobs and requisitions.

In order that requests can be processed efficiently and without delay please note that all the following information must be supplied to the Estates General Office:

  • Your full name (PRINTED LEGIBLY)
  • Your telephone extension
  • Your Department
  • Your e-mail address (if you wish the FACTS communications system to automatically let you know when a job has been completed)
  • The building to which the job/requisition refers
  • The room number to which the job or requisition refers
  • As much detailed information about the job/requisition as possible.

Please note the above refers to both telephone messages to the fault reporting line (3001) and requisition forms sent to the Estates Office. The FACTS system will not process your request without all the relevant information and failure to supply may result in job requests being returned to you.

Thank you for your co-operation.

New. Win a Mountain Bike and other prizes!

HEEPI Transport Survey

HEEPI (Higher Education Environmental Performance Improvement) is conducting a survey this month into staff (and student) travel patterns, which is being run in conjunction with a number of Universities (see http://www.heepi.org.uk for details)

Staff at Bradford will be invited to complete the survey the week commencing Monday October 13th. The URL link to an online survey will be advertised via the Universitys internal homepage, emails and News & Views. The result from this survey will not only provide a picture of current travel patterns and strongly influence future transport and environmental strategy and policy for the University of Bradford but the results from all the Universities will be compared to highlight similarities and differences across the sector.

Keep a look out for publicity, the online survey and a chance to win that mountain bike!

For further details, contact Adam van Winsum, a.vanwinsum@bradford.ac.uk or ext 5396 or Jaime Sullivan, Environmental Manager j.h.sullivan@Bradford.ac.uk or ext 3430
