We're Moving, from the Department of Accommodation & Catering Services

We are temporarily moving offices on Tuesday 8 May 2001, to allow for work to commence on the refurbishment of Bradford & University Halls. Our new 'temporary' offices will be situated at Dennis Bellamy Hall on Laisteridge Lane but all staff will still be contactable on their current extension numbers. It is expected that we will return to the ground floor of Bradford Hall in the autumn.

Semester 2 Exam Timetable, from Jenny Beaumont, Assistant Registrar, Academic Standards and Support

Now available via: www.brad.ac.uk/admin/acsec/examreg/Guide.html

The site includes guidance on exam conduct and a link to the formal regulations. There should be no need to make any changes to the published timetable, but sometimes amendments are unavoidable - chiefly because students have been registered on ISIS for the wrong modules. Please check the site regularly in case of changes and advise students to do the same.

Improving your Writing, Staff Development Unit
14 May 2001 in D51, Richmond Building, 1.30-4.30pm, run by John Waller

The first part examines why some pieces of writing are easier to read and understand than others. It includes stylistic tips and hints on word choice, sentence length and structure, to help you improve the clarity of your own writing. The second part provides guidance on how to organise a series of arguments or ideas into a longer piece of writing, such as a letter of complaint, an essay, or a report. It provides a structure to help you produce a piece of writing that presents what you want to say in the most logical and persuasive way.

The session will include exercises!

If you would like to attend, please either call us on ext. 3102, e-mail us at: staffdev@bradford.ac.uk, or complete the on-line booking form at: www.brad.ac.uk/admin/staffdev/whatson/booking.html
