Research Funding The seminar will be opened by the Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Research and Innovation), Professor Mark Pollard, who will talk on the role of research within the University. Papers will then be presented by several staff on obtaining funding for research, information on the role of Research Office, and an introduction to the new ResearchResearch.com service. There will also be the opportunity for informal discussion and an exchange of experiences. This event will be of particular interest to academic and related staff thinking of applying for funding for research. Officer, Research Office Insight Plus at the University of BradfordHopefully you will be aware of the Insight Plus programme that is running at the University of Bradford. As well as being an ideal forum for students to develop skills, there is also an opportunity for staff members to act as mentors. InsightPlus is a distance-mentoring programme lasting six months (with 3 days of face-to-face elements, one of which is a day's mentor training). The mentees are undergraduate students who are in part-time work or other extra-curricular activities and who develop their employability through reflection on their current work or voluntary experience. Students work towards an Institute of Leadership and Management certificate, which accredits this learning and is recognised by many employers. The mentors facilitate 3 -4 mentees each to whom they will probably need to dedicate a ½ hour a week. For more information, see the two pdf files below. Phase 1 now includes an assessment of demand for new courses.
