An Edwardian gentleman-explorer; a government entomologist in 1920s Egypt; tea with Queen Natalie of Serbia . . .
Uncle Eric's Box is an ongoing series of work based upon the journals, diaries and imagined history of the artist's great-uncle. Using a single, rusting metal trunk the artist has cast in muslin fifteen boxes. A small recess in the lid of each box contains artefacts, memorabilia, entomological field notes.
Henny Burnett works as an installation artist and printmaker. In recent years her work has taken on an overtly autobiographical element, part factual, part invented. She draws in particular on journals, artefacts and memorabilia inherited from obscure and sometimes eccentric relatives and distant family members.
Henny studied Sculpture, Printmaking (Post Graduate Diploma) and Design (BA) at Edinburgh College of Art, and is now living and working in Salisbury, Wiltshire. She has exhibited widely in Scotland and the South West; however Uncle Eric's Box offers a chance to see Henny's work in Yorkshire for the first time.
This is a rare opportunity and an exhibition not to be missed.

Many students still have not received their funding, we are loaning money to them to keep body and soul together. Some may not receive any funding until December or January, many of these have childcare and a mortgage to pay. We have sent information to all students several times, put up posters and informed staff but there are still many who have managed to avoid the information.
If students are unsure what to do please send them to us, we can help (this only applies to home students).
We are in touch on a weekly basis with the DfES. They are trying to speed the process but it is not looking good.
We are doing everything we can to help our students out, so let them know that we are here for them - SFIS, communal building.
Many thanks to those staff who have donated food for those without funds. We are now running very low on food to give to those with little or no money. If you have any non-perishable foodstuffs please let us know, we can collect from you. The students are really grateful.
The students' union is always very happy to receive clothing, (especially for children and babies), household items and anything else that you think students could use. Dig out your old pram, pushchair etc and donate to the Union. This helps students out when money is very tight.
There is an opportunity for staff to submit nominations for the award of honorary degrees for consideration by the Honorary Degrees Committee at a meeting to be held on 24 November.
