We are pleased to announce the next Bradford LAWN (Local Women Academic Network) seminar.

We will also be discussing the development of the role of lecturers, and the interaction between teaching and research.

Do you know someone who could inspire others to return to learning?
If you do, NIACE welcomes you to enter them for the 2004 Senior Learners of the Year Awards. Entry is open to all adults in England over the age of 50 and nominations can be made from anyone including colleagues, tutors, carers, friends and family.
Winners receive a £200 learning voucher and a framed certificate. You can also nominate a local group that has learned together to benefit its members and the wider community.
Entry to the award closes on 9 January 2004.

A brief note to advise you of progress relating to the Horton Grange Community Development Project.
Nadia Hussain was appointed Development Officer and Rasma Butters was appointed Administrative Secretary. Both commenced their duties on the 26th August 2003. The Senior Development Officer's post was not filled as the shortlist proved to be weak on this occasion. This post has been re-advertised and it is hoped to make an appointment by the end of this month.
The Horton Grange Community Development Project Office is situated on the middle floor of the University's Communal Building, next door to the Students' Union shop. If you are passing, call in and make yourself known.
If you are interested in this exciting community project, funded by Sport England, NRF and ERDF monies, feel free to get in touch.

As from September 2003, there will be a regular programme of day trips for international students to places of interest in Yorkshire and a little further afield - to introduce them to our cultural heritage.
The trips will take place once a month on a Sunday. If you would like to volunteer to be a chaperone, please contact Sue Baker, International Office (s.m.baker@bradford.ac.uk, ext 3080).
You will have free coach travel and free entry to whichever attraction we are going to visit!
