http://100objectsbradford.wordpress.com/Countries European Region continue to battle large measles outbreaks that are spreading between countries and to other regions of the world. To date, 24 countries in Region have reported measles cases in 2011.
The measles virus spreads very easily and rapidly, and consequently these outbreaks will likely continue as long as there are people who have not been immunised or were not immunized on time, according to the routine immunisation schedule. Measles remains one of the leading causes of death among young children globally, despite the availability of a safe and effective vaccine.
Staff are reminded that they can find out if they have had their MMR jabs or book an appointment to have it by contacting their GP. Individuals need to have had 2 doses to be fully protected.
