At this meeting we will be discussing the wording of the question(s) to be asked in the survey of members' views on the merger with Bradford College, as requested at the November General Meeting. We will also be discussing the implementation of the Fixed-term Employees (Prevention of Less Favourable Treatment) Regulations that came into effect on 1st October 2002. Due to staff absence, it has not been possible to circulate paper documents for the meeting.

Part-time Modules at the School of Lifelong Education and Development (SLED)
The School of Lifelong Education and Development at the University of Bradford are offering over 15 part-time personal and professional development modules in the New Year. The modules include Introduction to Counselling, Transcultural Counselling, Bereavement Counselling, Public Relations & Media Management Career Planning, Neuro-Linguistic Programming skills, Effective Team Working, Human Resource Management, Introduction to Transactional Analysis, Myers Briggs Personality Type, and Mentoring skills. One new module on offer is Creative Problem Solving. Colin Neville, the course organiser, said "This course is aimed at anyone who is called upon to arbitrate or solve problems that can flare up in teams or groups. It looks at the problem from a range of perspectives and then encourages all parties to find creative solutions." The courses are offered mainly in the evenings and at weekends, and some modules are offered by distance learning. Telephone the SLED General Office, 3210 for more information. Students' Union Shop RefurbishmentThe Students’ Union Shop in the Communal Building has had a £50,000 facelift. Delivery of Guilbert Niceday stationeryFurther to a recent successful trial of desk top delivery of stationery there will be a campus wide roll out of your stationery orders being delivered direct to your office by Guilbert Niceday personnel. This will commence on Monday 3rd February. To ensure this changeover runs smoothly it is necessary to put a block on stationery orders on Thursday 30th and Friday 31st January. This will enable Guilbert NIceday to alter delivery details on their system. Furthermore stationery will not be delivered to the post room or stores. For those of you who have been placing orders with Lyreco you may now revert to Guilbert Niceday. Orders may still be placed with Lyreco until 3rd Feb. University of Bradford Scholarships - Postgraduate CandidatesTaught Master's Courses There will be no 'open' scholarships for international applicants to postgraduate taught courses with entry in September 2003 and therefore no scholarship application forms to complete. Instead, course applications from international candidates with outstanding academic qualifications will be considered on a competitive basis and a small number of full fee awards (up to a maximum of the overseas Science and Engineering fee) will subsequently be made to selected candidates. The University will contact these candidates directly to advise them of the awards by 31st May 2003. Research Degrees
