Assembly Meeting

The postponed Assembly meeting of 1 May will now be held on Thursday 30 May 2002 from 1-2pm in the John Stanley Bell Lecture Theatre, Richmond Building.

The agenda for the meeting is as follows:

Adult Tutors Awards

Do you know of a brilliant tutor? Why not enter them for an award?

This initiative is part of the NIACE enrolment campaign, Sign Up Now, which runs 2-8 September 2002. Each winning tutor will receive £250 and a framed certificate at a national ceremony in London. Everyone who enters will receive a certificate of nomination. There'll be special awards for tutors who work in the fields of science, basic skills, family learning and languages, and for tutors who offer training to employees in small or medium-sized enterprises.

The adult tutor awards are open to people who:

  • Have been involved in adult learning provision in the UK for at least three years.
  • Have a commitment to learners in their care.
  • Have high quality tutoring/training skills.

You can nominate a tutor if you are a learner, a provider, another tutor or a member of the community.

Catering Equipment Amnesty

We are currently experiencing a serious shortage of equipment for use in functions. These items include Silver trays (flats), Coffee Pots, Cutlery & Crockery. We urgently require the return of any equipment you may have. We will pick-up this equipment at your convenience, from specified locations.

Your co-operation in this matter will be appreciated in light of the current financial constraints.

Notification of Maintenance work in University buildings

For your information the following works are to be carried out in Chesham 'C' Building

Details of the work: Replacement of the Main Electrical LV. Switchboard. It is anticipated that work will commence on Saturday 1st June 2002 at 08.30hrs. and be completed on Wednesday 5th June 2002 at 17.00hrs. There will be no electrical supply to the whole of Chesham 'C' for the first three and half days after which power will be restored to the building section by section.

As a precaution against possible loss or corruption of information it is advisable to "power down" all file servers and computer equipment at the end of the working day on Friday 31st May 2002. Warning notices will be posted on all floor levels within the building on Friday 31st May 2002.

Should you have any queries regarding the shutdown, please direct them to Mr. G. Simpson on ext: 3431 or Mr. C. Overton on ext: 3425.

The Sports Centre is now taking outside group bookings to play 5, 6, 7 and 11 a side football pitches throughout the Summer.

Tennis courts are still only £1.00, you can also hire rackets.
