Request for research volunteers for the Research Tissue Bank

The Research Tissue Bank are looking to recruit a number of healthy individuals to donate a blood sample (between 20-40mls) for biomedical research. Researchers are looking for the following people:

You will need to attend a booked session on campus on Thursday 1 September, sign a consent form and answer a few medical and lifestyle questions. You will receive £20 for taking part and you do not have to be a University staff member.

You cannot donate if you aren’t fit and well, have a known transmissible disease, such as Hepatitis, or have any medical conditions or take medications that would make taking a blood sample difficult or inadvisable.  For example if you are taking regular intravenous drugs or Warfarin (or other long-term anti-coagulation therapy) where you are required to have frequent blood tests then you would not be suitable for the research. You will also be unable to donate if you are a haemophiliac or have received chemotherapy within the last four weeks.

If you are interested in supporting biomedical research in this way, please contact Dr Sue Boyce on 01274 235 897 or email s.g.boyce@bradford.ac.uk

Works on Campus

Closure of Atrium for high level cleaning

We will be cleaning the high level ledges, girders, reflectors etc which will require the use of a cherry picker. This will require the cordoning off of the main atrium space overlooked by the link corridors. Access to reception, corridor below the link block balconies, glass lift and ramps up to C floor lift foyer will remain unaffected. The impact will be restricted to times when the work is taking place which will be between 8am and 5pm on the three days (30th, 31st and 1st).
