Yorkshire Electricity: Electrical shutdown, and disruption to network services

In order to enable essential maintenance work to be carried out on both the Yorkshire Electricity and the University's High Voltage equipment a complete shutdown of the electrical supply to the University Main Campus is necessary.

Arrangements have been made for this to take place on Sunday 28th July 2002 (not Saturday 27th July 2002 as circulated previously) and in consequence there will be no electricity supply to any of the buildings on the Main Campus, from approximately 0800 hours to 1700 hours.

Cleaning Arrangements for 2002/3

Staff will be aware that there is to be a cut in the cleaning service to the University. A saving of £100,000 has to be made during the 2002/03 financial year. This is a loss of approximately 34 cleaning staff posts. This reduction will be reduced by natural wastage but its impact will be a significant one.

The Finance Department would like to point out that it is the financial year end at the end of July and it would be greatly appreciated if departments could process all July invoices for payment as promptly as possible to facilitate input early in August.
